He’s also been featured on CNN’s Inside Africa and CCTV on his expedition to promote Ethiopia’s Culinary Culture and healthy alternatives. Chef Yohanis Gebreyesus Hailemariam, who says his mom was his inspiration, is an internationally qualified Chef and Executive Chef at Antica Restaurant and farm, a restaurant owned by his family. After years of perfecting intercontinental cuisines, Chef Yohanis decided to return back home in the mission of taking the use of Ethiopian ingredients to a whole new level.

Ethiopian Chef Yohanis is the host of the Chef Yohanis Culinary and Lifestyle TV show and chef at Antica Restaurant in Addis Ababa. At Antica, he caters to a high-end clientèle eager for a fusion of European and Ethiopian cuisines. “When I mix flavours” he explains, “I pay attention to all levels: texture, colour, taste, smell and presentation.” He credits his professional inspiration to Chef Bocuse and his creative inspiration to his travels to remote places in Africa as well as his Ethiopian palate.
